Runner Terms & Work Information
Ontario, Canada — Last updated July 2026. This page contains the written information required by the Digital Platform Workers' Rights Act, 2022. Informational summary, not legal advice.
💰 How your pay is calculated
- You receive 100% of the price you accepted — your winning bid, the buy-now price, or the pooled pot at acceptance.
- Goods you purchase for a customer are reimbursed on top, against the receipt.
- Tips are yours entirely. Nothing is ever deducted from your pay — PorchRun's service fee is charged to the customer, on top of your price.
📅 When you're paid
- Earnings unlock 24 hours after each delivery (the customer dispute window).
- Cash out any time from your profile once payout setup is complete — transfers go directly to your bank via Stripe.
- Cash-settled runs are paid at the door by the customer.
📋 How work is assigned
- There is no dispatch algorithm and no ranking. Every open errand is visible to every runner on the public board.
- Customers choose which bid to accept. Buy-now and storm-rate runs go to the first runner who accepts.
- Route offers are sent by customers to runners whose posted routes pass near the job — you can accept, counter, or decline freely.
- Declining or ignoring work never affects what you're shown.
⭐ Performance ratings
- Customers can leave a 1–5 star review after each run; your average appears on your public profile.
- Ratings do not change your access to work or your pay. They exist so neighbours can choose who they trust.
🚫 Suspension and deactivation
- Permanent deactivation comes with 2 weeks' written notice and reasons, except removals for safety, fraud, or legal compliance, which are immediate.
- Any suspension longer than 24 hours comes with written reasons.
- Disputes are resolved in Ontario. Contact support@porchrun.com.
🤝 Your status and attestations
- You are an independent contractor: set your own hours, take only work you want, and work for other platforms at the same time.
- At activation you attested that you are 18 or older, hold a valid driver's licence for any vehicle you use, and understand that personal auto insurance excludes paid delivery (see the Runner Legal Guide).
- You are responsible for reporting income to the CRA; PorchRun issues a T4A if you earn over $500 in a calendar year.
- Customer information you see is confidential and may only be used to complete the run.
- Prohibited items: cannabis, tobacco, vapes, firearms, controlled substances, and alcohol (until the licensed alcohol program launches). Sealed OTC meds and filled prescriptions released to you by the pharmacy are allowed.
Records of your runs, pay, and engaged time are retained as required by the DPWRA. Request a copy any time at support@porchrun.com.
