Privacy Policy

The short version

PorchRun connects neighbours who need things delivered with local runners. To do that we need your address, contact details, and the details of what you're sending or receiving. We use this information to run the service — not to sell to anyone. You can delete your account any time from your profile.

What we collect

  • Account details — name, email, phone, delivery address and its map location, community, profile photo. If you sign in with Facebook: your Facebook name, email, and profile picture.
  • Delivery activity — the errands you post or run: descriptions, pickup and drop-off addresses, photos, prices, bids, offers, and pool contributions.
  • Private notes — details you mark private (door codes, prescription names) are shown only to your accepted runner, never on public listings.
  • Messages — chats between you and your runner or requester, kept as the record of the delivery.
  • Payment information — handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card number; we store only transaction references.
  • Usage basics — when you last used the app and anonymous address-search queries, to keep the service working well.

How we use it

  • Matching errands with runners, including showing distances and routes
  • Processing payments, holds, refunds, and runner payouts (via Stripe)
  • Sending the notifications you've opted into (email and push)
  • Resolving disputes — chat logs and delivery photos are the evidence record
  • Understanding demand so we can bring PorchRun to more communities (aggregate, not individual)

We do not sell your personal information. Ever.

Who sees what

  • Other users see your first name / display name, photo, community, ratings, and badges. Your exact address appears only on errands you post, and your private notes only to your accepted runner.
  • Service providers — Stripe (payments), our email provider, and browser push services deliver parts of the service and receive only what they need to do so.
  • Nobody else, except if required by law.

How long we keep it

Your account information is kept while your account is active. Completed-delivery records (including chats and photos) are retained as the transaction record for dispute, payment, and tax purposes. When you delete your account, your personal details — name, contact information, address, location, photos, linked accounts — are removed immediately; transaction records are kept in anonymized form.

Your choices

  • Edit your profile details any time
  • Turn email and push notifications on or off in your profile
  • Delete your account from your profile page — it takes effect immediately
